this as been troubling me for the past 3 days now. I installed WaW 4 days ago, DL'ed the patches and everything and went to sleep. Next day i wake up, ran WaW MP and BOOM Black Screen, no sound, no display cept for all black. I go google some fixes, none of which were reliable, then ran WaW MP again and this time it didn't even appear on the screen, NOTHING! not even the black screen from before. I'm running Windows 7 as you can tell and i would really like to play with you guys (and girls) so any fixes you have in mind would make me super happy. thanks in advance BTW i have tried to restart my machine and no dice.

make sure you have the current video drivers for your video card that are intended for windows 7. Windows 7 will actually check for this update but you should check anyway to make sure that you are up to date.

GoodGuy you are a genius (along with KingGoose) after i did what you said it didnt work BUT Goose suggested Compatibility mode and it worked. Had to wait a couple of second for the menu but hey, im not complaining!
EDIT: Nevermind. looks like it only worked once or twice after running compatibility and running as administrator.... geez.

Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the game along with all the patches. You might even wanna go as far as cleaning any remnants of the game from your registry too. This will give you a genuine installation when you go to put it back on the machine. Are you using a nocd.exe? Is there in option during the installation that allows you to install the game so that you don’t need the cd in drive to play? If there is try and install it so that you DO need the cd in the drive to play. If you are using a nocd.exe I suggest not using it to see if that works. Have you checked\scanned your memory (RAM) for errors, or to see that it is all working? Test your video card too, and download the latest drivers from the manufacturers website. Do other games run on your system? Have you made sure there is no security software preventing the game from running? You said it ran when running it as admin a couple times right? Well something could have created a rule that won’t allow the game to run anymore, you should check all of your security settings. I hope you can get this fixed, please let me know how you make out. Good luck
Cheers
