Well.. tonight we had our 1st game...
It was us...(The Blue Blazers) against the NoName Team.
It started off with a little bit of a mix up.. as we walked into the gym. There was another team having practice?.?.? but all coaches know that games over rule practice.
Once they cleared the floor we got into our warm ups..
The energy and determination was amazing.. and this was just warm ups. Jesse(my son the coach) and I were kind of nervous/excited.. the kids were just ready to go.
The game started off with us winning the jump.. and then heading right down the floor for a quick lay-in. PERFECT START!!
Our kids were definitely ready to go and after one quarter we had the lead 6-4.
Got some fresh kids into the game and continued to build on our good start. With a little more defense and a little less offense we continued to use our momentum and confidence to build on our lead going into halftime. Oh did I mention Zack hit a buzzer beater to end the half... 10-6 ..we could have, should have, would have had a lot more points but we had too many missed offensive rebounds and put backs. Good thing we get a half time to make adjustments.. it was time to practice rebound drills...blocking out, putting the ball up and OFF-THE-BACKBOARD for the score.
These adjustments worked two fold..
The blue Blazers blocked out cleaning the boards on both offense and defense!! Good passing and ball movement ballooned out lead to 18-8 going into the final period. Great Qtr
The fourth quarter was all about the full court press... both teams pressed hard.. and the turnovers came in buckets.... This enabled the Nonames to mount a run and pull with in 20-16. Some quick coaching tips on breaking the press and substitutions fresh players in, halted that run and we pulled away to a comfortable cruise to an opening game win... 26-16.
Press Photo's coming soon!!!
Box--Score--------1st---2nd---3rd---4th---Total

Halftime.. time for the coaches to coach. Adjustments, set the 2nd half lineups... and GO TEAM GO!!
